The Art of Silence
With his gestures and facial expressions alone, the mime Marcel Marceau captivated audiences around the world for decades. However, the tragic background to his work has long been hidden. The Art of Silence sheds new light on his life and his unique art form, which family and peers keep alive to this day. The father of Swiss filmmaker Maurizius Staerkle Drux (Concrete Love – The Böhm Family) was deaf. With this film he reflects on parts of his own history and on the turbulent life of a world-famous mime, vindicating the silence of an art that conveys what can never be said in words.
